LIGHTNING RELEASES: SPOKANE, Wash. (11/26/2014) – Spud Spikes® has launched a new line of Gourmet Tender Meat Snacks under the Burly Babe™ brand.
Owner Leon Frechette created this product, which he is very proud of, by blending his Spud Spikes original seasoning with local high-quality meats. The Tender Meat Snacks are packaged in both a stick and bite-sized configuration.
He uses a “skinless” process to give the Tender Meat Snacks a more authentic feel. This process provides a deeper smoking result and cleaner bites, and it eliminates a tough or chewy casing.
The new snack is a 60/40 blend of beef and pork. They do this for two reasons: First, it adds moisture to the meat snacks, which creates a smooth texture. Secondly, the pork distributes the flavor of the seasoning better than an all-beef product, so the overall taste is stunning.
Only ground chuck that is graded choice or better and high-quality pork shoulder is used in this product. Unlike most meat snacks, Burly Babe does not use fillers, low-quality meat cuts or organs. This provides a consistent product and the best transfer of flavor throughout the meat snack.
The Tender Meat Snacks are made of regionally grown beef so the butcher can control the quality of beef they receive. The beef has no growth hormones or antibiotics. If local meat is not available, the butcher will use U.S.-grown beef from packing plants with the highest reputation for meat quality, meat safety and humane animal-handling policies. The butcher uses a small-batch production to ensure a consistent, high-quality product. Each batch undergoes several quality-control inspections for flavor and packaging. They operate in a “hands-on” plant with limited automation, thus producing a handcrafted product second to none.
