FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. (April 9, 2015) – Brooks Utility Products, the premier supplier and manufacturer of a complete line of metering related products for the utility industry, continues to show it is an industry leader in meter socket safety with a comprehensive presentation at the Edison Electric Institute (EEI) Transmission, Distribution and Metering Conference on April 14, at the Rosen Centre Hotel in Orlando, Florida.
With more than 43 million smart meters deployed and millions more projected to be installed in the United States over the next 10 years, the need for proper meter socket inspection and meter installation/removal training has never been more pressing. There have been many lessons learned from large-scale deployments to date and many of the safety risks being attributed to smart meters or hot sockets appear to be completely preventable.
The presentation, titled “Meter Socket Inspection & Lifecycle Analysis”, will be given during the AEIC Meter Business Operations Working Group at 3pm by Brooks’ Director of Marketing Scott Mann and Director of Engineering Derrick Titus.
“Visual and mechanical inspection of the meter socket during installations helps mitigate the risk of failure,” said Mann. “Our presentation at the EEI event will provide insight into common failure modes of electric meter sockets, outline design criteria and share inspection guidance to move the industry forward in preventing hot sockets and other catastrophic failures.”
Aside from its presence at the EEI Conference in Orlando, Brooks is traveling around the country giving several more presentations about socket safety and smart meter fire prevention. To learn where Brooks will be presenting next, please visit http://ift.tt/1gJFKgI.
