SIMPLEPR 12/12/14 –Winning its second award this year, Rhulani Safari Lodge, in the Madikwe Game Reserve, has been named Best Luxury Bush Lodge globally at the recent World Luxury Hotel Awards.
Earlier this year the lodge was awarded Best Relaxation Retreat in Africa at the 2014 World Boutique Hotel Awards, so the second accolade was received with much excitement.
The World Luxury Hotel Awards, which took place at the Bay Hotel in Camps Bay, Cape Town, on 6 December 2014, recognise luxury hotels globally for their world-class facilities and service excellence. Awards are presented to luxury hotels in various categories on a country, continental and global basis.
Having known beforehand that Rhulani would be receiving an award (but unsure what that award would be), the trip from São Paulo, Brazil, for Rhulani Safari Lodge owners Rolf Steiner and Marisa Silva was definitely worth it.
The award ceremony started with a delicious five-course meal and entertaining performances, keeping guests in suspense before the winners were announced.
Says Silva, ‘It is very difficult to stand out from our competitors. It is an internationally acknowledged fact that hospitality industry standards in South Africa are very high. The landscape is stunning all over the country, infrastructure is first class and venues offer the trendiest décor and features. In addition, there is a common understanding about what a safari lodge should offer.’
Once the country and continental winners had been announced, Steiner and Silva were sure they had been forgotten. The surprise came when they were announced as the Best Bush Lodge worldwide.
‘We are newcomers to the hospitality industry. We have worked so hard to compensate for this, and our freshness and hard work has paid off. Our staff believe in us and supported us in this journey. We are convinced that training and attention to detail are our differentiators and we will continue to work hard to offer our guests the best bush experience ever,’ says Steiner.
