APEX COVANTAGE AND CPFL ENERGIA PARTNER TO BRING AWARD-WINNING SMART METERING SOLUTION TO BRAZIL

Nation’s third-largest utility to use ProField^® software for safe, efficient and cost-effective AMI deployment

SIMPLEPR: Herndon, Va. (November 11, 2014) – Apex CoVantage, a global provider of smart grid technology and services, will partner with CPFL Energia on an advanced meter pilot project in Sorocaba, Brazil. The utility has selected Apex’s proprietary ProField software to help manage the installation of advanced electric meters in one of the city’s more densely populated residential area.

“Apex CoVantage’s recent recognition by a panel of renowned utilities showed us the relevance of using ProField to meet our needs, and the needs of our customers, while embarking on this very necessary upgrade,” said Eduardo Caldas of CPFL Energia. “With ProField, Apex has demonstrated the ability to deliver safe, efficient and cost-effective installations, making this software a compelling option for us.”

To further support this meter upgrade initiative, Apex will lend several of its own handheld devices to the utility, enabling its mobile workforces to communicate and share project information in real-time.

The CPFL Energia pilot project is Apex’s latest achievement in a string of recent high profile global recognitions. In October, Apex’s ProField technology was awarded with the “2014 Fierce Innovation Business Side Award” for mobile workforce management. On November 3, Apex’s managing director, Anthony Howells, was named one of Smart Metering International’s “40 Most Influential People in European Smart Grid.”
