Readers Reviews:

As a High School History teacher, I will say this: the story itself is called fiction, but the events that take place are FACTUAL. I really give a lot of kudos to Shirley McLain for doing her re-search well. A lot of authors write these types of books with no idea of the factual history behind it, since they are claiming it to be fiction anyway. You could tell that she went out of her way to do in depth research, and I truly commend her for that. – Charlie Jackson

Charley Dobyns is an extremely intriguing character. Readers get to follow him through his journey, from Texas to Oklahoma. After his parents die from Yellow Fever, It’s now his responsibil-ity to take care of his siblings. He struggles a lot, but finally meets a woman who he falls in love with. Right when he’s about to become settled in Oklahoma, tragedy strikes. Don’t want to give anything else away, because this is truly a must read! – Karen Ruggerio
